General Information

Cupuacu is a tiny shrub or bushy tree found in the Amazon region. It grows natively in the Para, Amazonas, and Amapa jungles of northern Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru. Like cacao, Cupuacu fruit is ovular and has a brown peel surrounding wonderful white flesh. Its high oleic acid content makes it supple and melts like butter.

Bloom/Fruit: 2-3 years

Maintenance Required: Moderate; favors humid tropical regions and fertile, well-drained soils. It grows best in mild shade but may thrive in full sun with damp soil.
