The Kottukonam mango is a sweet and fragrant variety hailing from Kerala’s Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. Named after the border town of Kotturkonam in Tamil Nadu, this mango features a reddish-orange color inside and out and is notably fibrous. Its taste, scent, and flavor linger long after consumption.

Uses/Benefits
Traditionally, the mango stem bark and leaves are used to treat ailments such as anemia, skin diseases, diabetes, diarrhea, and scabies. The green fruit is used to make chutneys, pickles, curries, and dried mango, as well as amchoor (raw mango powder) and panna. Ripe fruit can be canned and frozen, or made into slices, pulp, concentrate, juices, nectar, jam, purée, cereal flakes, toffee, and dried fruit.
